Some people will lament the “loss” of one hour when we moved into daylight savings time this week. However, God would have us focus on three other hours as Jesus hung on the cross on Good Friday. Although these, too, were seemingly “lost” hours from a human perspective, during these miraculous hours eternal salvation was won for us by divine actions and words. Our hymn declares, “Calvary’s mournful mountain climb; there, adoring at His feet, mark that miracle of time, God’s own sacrifice complete. ‘It is finished!’ hear Him cry…” (LSB #436)
