HAPPENINGS

John Robert Boteler was called home to be with the Lord on the morning of October 18, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born in New Orleans on January 3, 1946 to the late Hazel D. Delgado and Lawrence J Boteler. John was married to the love of his life, Constance Ward Boteler, for 57 years. During their marriage, they were blessed with two children: Julie Ann Boteler and John Robert Boteler, Jr. (Nicole); five grandchildren: Nigel Bradford (Jackie), Devin Kaiser (Sierra), Dax Boteler (Brin), Aubrey Bradford, and Onycah Boteler; and four great grandchildren: Bailey, Abigail, Alayna and Baby Boteler, who is on the way. He is preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Boteler, Jr. (Theresa) and survived by his sisters: Delores Redman, Deborah Dermid (Gerold) and Frances Delgado; and brothers: Wayne Boteler (Irene), Walter Boteler (Stella), Gary Boteler, and Frankie Delgado. John graduated from Chalmette High School and Delgado Community College. He had a successful career with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, retiring from Gulf Engineering after 30 years. John’s faith was very important to him. He was a member of both Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in New Orleans and then Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Slidell, where he was passionate about serving the Lord and telling people about Him. For many years, he taught Sunday School to both adults and youth, served as a Church Elder, and participated actively in Evangelism teams. He also shared his love for God with his children and grandchildren by bringing them to church services, Sunday School, and church events. When nieces, nephews, and friends stayed for a Saturday Night sleepover, they would be brought to church as well, no matter how late they stayed up. John’s favorite hobby was racing homing pigeons. He was a member of the Greater New Orleans Combine for racing Pigeons for many years. He also loved spending time with his family, raising German Shepherds, taking care of his chickens, tending to his vegetable garden, and working on outdoor projects. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Thanks to Enhabit Hospice of Slidell for taking such good care of John. They are an amazing group. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Lamb of God Lutheran Church (57210 Allen Road, Slidell 70461) on Saturday, November 14. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with a church service at 11:00 am,. A repast will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lamb of God Lutheran Church
