Obituary Eldon James Beck, of Slidell, went home to be with his heavenly Father on Tuesday May 13,2025 at the age of 91. He was born on a farm in Clear Lake, Iowa to Leonard and Merle Beck. Eldon was raised in Charles City, Iowa. On June 20, 1953, He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Wiltse Beck at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. Eldon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather who took immense pride in his family. Everyone loved Pops! Eldon served in the US Army National Guard right out of high school for 3 years and was very proud of his time spent in the National Guard. In February 1956, Eldon and Alice relocated to Calexico, California, where he worked for a short time at the Calexico post office before joining the United States Customs. He held various management positions within the US Customs before moving to Slidell, Louisiana in 1975 to assume the position as Director of the United States Customs in New Orleans. Eldon retired after 36 years and enjoyed many years of traveling and playing golf with his family and friends. Eldon is survived by his beloved wife Alice of 72 years, his children Julie Moore (Mike), Dennis Beck (Shirley), and David Beck. His grandchildren, Michael Moore Jr (Kim), Michele Echols (Chris), Brenda Dupuy (Brian), Dustin Beck (Natalie) and Tracy Beck. He also has 8 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love and strength. He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Beck, Merle and James Powell, Brother Everett Beck and his Son Douglas Beck. Eldon had a great love for Lamb of God Church and all the congregation who lovingly embraced him and Alice. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Eldon’s Celebration of Life at Lamb of God Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 29, 2025. 57210 Allen Road, Slidell, Louisiana 70461. Visitation will be held at 10 AM with services starting at 11 AM followed by a lunch in honor of Eldon. His family finds comfort in knowing that his love, laughter and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be touched by Eldon’s love. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Lamb of God Lutheran Church of Slidell in memory of Eldon Beck.
