Congregation Life

Boards, Committees, Organizations

Members of Lamb of God are encouraged to become personally involved in one of the many boards, committees, and organizations at Lamb of God. The following provides basic information about each to help you understand their purpose and to encourage you to join and become part of the joy of serving the Lord and this congregation.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Sunday School Committee is the educational servant of the church. Its members consist of the Pastor, an elected Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday school teachers, and (on an ad hoc basis) VBS teachers. This committee’s responsibilities center around fostering spiritual growth for individuals in every stage of life – pre-school through adult. Doctrinally sound materials are selected to nurture Christian learning for each age level.

Teaching God’s Word to eager hearts is one of the most rewarding services you can do for your Lord. The returns are endless.

MUSIC MINISTRY

Music has always been a vital part of Lutheran worship. Our rich tradition of hymnody is unsurpassed in any other church body. The singing of these hymns and our liturgy keep us focused on what God has done for us in Christ Jesus.

For centuries, Lutheran church choirs have assisted in proclaiming the Biblical truths which the Lutheran church teaches. At Lamb of God, the choir leads the congregation in singing as well as preparing choral music chosen to illuminate the lessons of the church year.

The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. in the church. Everyone, aged high school and older, is welcome.

ALTAR GUILD

Members of the congregation are needed to become members of the Altar Guild. The Guild is responsible for preparing the altar for weekly as well as seasonal and special Worship Services.

Specific duties include preparing the Communion Service, dressing the altar, assuring Baptism and Confirmation supplies are available when appropriate, and decorating the church at Christmas and on other occasions as necessary.

COMMITTEE OF STEWARDSHIP

The Committee of Stewardship gives its members a chance to stand in close personal relationship with our Lord. The Lord trusts us to do a good job, and we trust Him to show us His will and give us strength to do it. Stewardship involves all of life and that we are discoverers, developers and manager of all the gifts God has given us. Our purpose is to let our life be an offering.

In the end, God is the secret and source of all stewardship growth and success. The gifts are from Him, motivations to give are from Him, the cause to support is His. To serve Lamb of God in this very important way is very rewarding. The capacity of Stewardship is one of the many hearts that keeps the church active and energetic.

COMMITTEE OF CARE MINISTRY

The Committee of Care Ministry responds to those in need within and outside the congregation: the aged, the sick, the bereaved, and the poor. The committee relies on the help of others in the congregation and the Pastor to serve this population.

COMMITTEE OF MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM

The Committee of Missions and Evangelism offers its members an opportunity to serve the congregation in a very special and exciting way - spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to our community and to the world. Members work side by side, promoting and implementing an evangelism program, introduce new members into the life and work of the church; and publicizing the Gospel and activities of the congregation.

YOUTH GROUPS

The Youth programs at Lamb of God provide opportunities for faith development, service, and fellowship our youngsters. The Senior Youth Group (grades 9-12) meets for Bible Study and activities. The Junior Youth Group (grades 6-8) meets quarterly. Friends are always welcome.

COMMITTEE OF FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY

The Committee of Fellowship is a very active and exciting committee. The committee is responsible for the planning and executing of many and various Christian fellowship activities throughout the year. Among these are the Christmas Party, annual Family Picnic, and Easter Brunch. Committee members enjoy each other’s company and our meetings are more like parties than meetings. Please consider joining the committee and share the fun with us.

PRAYER CHAIN

The Lamb of God Prayer Chain is as important as it is simple. Members of the congregation forward requests for prayers to the Chairman of the Prayer Chain and the chairman distributes those requests to members of the committee. These members remember those in need daily through prayer until that need no longer exists. Prayer is a vital element of our lives as Christians and Lutherans.

To add your name to those willig to help or if you have a need, contact the Prayer Chain Chairman.

USHERS

Ushers are integral to the successful Worship Service. They manage the distribution of hymanals, receive collect the offering, assist members with needs which arise before and during Worship, and help maintain a worshipful atmosphere.

Men of post-confirmation age are invited to join
